Facebook = free advertising

August 23, 2010 How do/did, How To

Do you have a facebook page yet? It’s a great way to get free advertising. I have never had any success with facebook ads, but due to free “viral” advertising, the WorkAtHomeNerd facebook page now has over 200 fans.

What is viral advertising, you ask? When someone becomes a fan of a page, their friends see this, and just might check out the page themselves. If they then become a fan, all of their friends see this, and so on and so on. It spreads like a virus. This can lead to a ton of people seeing your facebook page updates, and it is completely free.

Creating a facebook page is simple. Just sign up for a facebook account (unless you already have one – it is against the facebook TOS to have more than one account!) and click on “Ads and Pages” on the left-hand side of your feed page or click here. Facebook will walk you through the simple process. Once set up, updating the page just the same as you updating your facebook page. And once you have over 25 fans, you can get an easy to remember url for your page (www.facebook.com/pagename).

Facebook pages are great for advertising anything and everything. You can let the world know you’re available for work at home jobs, that you’ve posted a new article on your website, etc. And to combine viral marketing methods, you can connect facebook pages to twitter so that anything you post to your page is automatically tweeted as well!
